Patricia Hensley Memorial Scholarship
The Mississippi Council of Teachers of Mathematics invites its members t0 apply for the Patricia Hensley Memorial Scholarship. Mrs. Hensley was a math instructor in the learning lab at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for over 20 years. She was an outstanding teacher and mentor to her fellow teachers during her time there. She was known as the “TI Calculator Queen” by her peers because she knew the makes and models of all the Texas Instrument calculators just like some people know the makes and models of cars and trucks. She could quickly tell you the features of each calculator made by Texas Instruments, what the keystrokes were to use those features, where to buy the calculators, and when they were on sale. She challenged her colleagues to try new methods, create new materials and resources, and gave presentations frequently. She was a great influence on the faculty of MGCCC during her time there and will always be remembered and cherished by those who worked with her.
Our 2024 awards application cycle is now open! The deadline for submission is September 30, 2024.
